Sometimes, the next step feels like the hardest one. Doubts creep in… What if I fail? What if I’m not good enough? What if this isn’t the right move? But let me flip the script for you: what if you succeed? What if this step is exactly what God is waiting for you to take? What if this is the moment where everything shifts, where God starts to reveal the bigger plan He’s been preparing for you all along?
God never promised us a journey free from challenges, but He does promise His presence every step of the way. In the Bible, we see ordinary people take bold steps, not because they were confident in themselves, but because they trusted in a powerful God. Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water—not because of his ability, but because his eyes were fixed on Jesus. David ran toward Goliath, not because of his strength, but because he knew the battle belonged to the Lord. And perhaps the greatest step ever taken was when Jesus carried the cross, walking toward His ultimate sacrifice for us.
Your next step may not be easy, but it could be life-changing. It’s not about what you bring to the table; it’s about what God can do through your obedience. So today, take that step… no matter how small or uncertain it feels. Trust that God is already ahead of you, clearing the path and preparing something greater than you can imagine.
Matthew 14:28-31 (NIV)
“‘Lord, if it’s you,’ Peter replied, ‘tell me to come to you on the water.’
‘Come,’ He said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord, save me!’
Immediately Jesus reached out His hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ He said, ‘why did you doubt?’”
1. What step of faith is God asking you to take right now?
2. What fears or doubts have been holding you back from taking that step?
3. In what ways have you experienced God’s faithfulness when you’ve taken bold steps in the past?
4. How can you shift your focus from your own limitations to God’s power and provision?
Reflect and Write:
Praise: Write about a time when God showed up in a big way after you took a step of faith. Thank Him for His faithfulness.
Confess: Share your fears or doubts with God. Be honest about what is holding you back and ask for His strength.
Ask: Pray for clarity and courage to take the next step, trusting that God will guide and provide along the way.
Lord, You see my heart, my fears, and my hesitation. Thank You for calling me to step forward and for promising to be with me. Help me to trust You more and lean into Your strength, not my own. May my steps glorify You and draw me closer to the purpose You have for my life. Amen.
